• Anonymousso the guy who's one chair in front of me always insists on playing everything possible up an octave and now we're trying this one song called american faces and it's actually murder and there's a bunch of parts you're supposed to play in the highest octave but it's like impossible so we play it in the middle and he doesn't even try to do it right and i'm just like ha ha suck on that bitch. except my face feels like it's gonna fall off and everything's so fast.

I hate trumpet players who think that the most important thing about playing trumpet is high notes…. and then the director gives them all the good parts because they can hit high notes but they arent good musically otherwise…..

I have to agree> I’m sorry but i have a very extended range, and yes it comes in handy sometimes, but parts are written for a reason, parts should not be played up an octave unless it is written 8va! Plus many players have the crazy range but have no idea how to control it. However, if the parts are written in that range, the player should lean how to use the technique musically.
